I know I shouldn’t value material things so much, but when my boyfriend got this palette for me as a surprise I felt as if he had given me an engagement ring transfigured into this palette. When I first laid my eyes on this beauty I instantly fell in love with it. It was inspired by the moon and all the shades are named after monthly full moons and the New Moon according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac! It has 8 buttery matte shades which are definitely my version of neutral eyeshadows. The packaging, the colours, the brand itself just made me think that if I ever came up with a brand and a palette this would probably be the one. It’s perfection squeezed into a single orb. It just seems like an out of this world palette. Maybe from the moon?!

And now let’s see the deets on this masterpiece:

1. Colours

“New” – They see a warm ivory (for base/setting), but I can assure you that my eyes don’t lie and this is a light cream-yellow shade.

“Strawberry” – They say this one is a dusty pink, I would say it’s almost a warm pink colour, not so dusty.

“Cold” – They think it’s a taupe brown, and I see exactly the same.

“Worm” – They describe this colour as a warm Dijon mustard yellow, and I couldn’t agree more.

“Harvest” – They define it as a burnt orange, and I reckon they’re so right.

“Blood” – They call this one a dried blood red, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this shade.

“Wolf” – They see a warm deep brown, and I know it sounds boring, but that’s what it is.

“Black” – They say this one is the blackest black, and I have no right to disagree with that.

2. Texture

Ok, guys! I think this is my favourite formula of eyeshadow so far. I know, that’s a lot to say, but I commit to it! These eyeshadows are truly buttery, with little to no fall-out, and very blendable. What really surprised me with this texture is the fact that they’re matte, but a different kind of matte. I wouldn’t go so far to call them satin, but they’re so soft that they make your eyelids look hydrated. I know it sounds crazy and it’s a bit hard to describe, but what I’m trying to say is that they don’t look dry at all on my eyes, but the finish is still matte. You’ll see better what I mean in the pictures down below.

3. Pigmentation

 

The pigmentation of this palette reminds me a lot of the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette, but (and that’s a big BUT) much better. I reckon that Orb of Light is easier to blend, quicker to build up, and the shades are very true to the pan. Feelings of excitement and fear embrace me every time I first lay my brush into a new eyeshadow palette, and this time was no exception. But when the coated in pigment brush reached my eyelid, I could hear the Heaven’s door opening on holy music. It was that glorious. From that moment on I knew this had replaced all the other palettes in my collection and it quickly escalated to be My Most Beloved Palette.

4. Lasting Power

To be completely honest with you, when I created the first look with this palette I expected it to crease throughout the day, only because the texture is so soft and somehow hydrating. Heaven’s above, but after 13 hours it still looked the same. My sceptical alter ego has been strongly rebuked.

 

5. Packaging & Price

The packaging was what first attracted me to get this palette. It’s unique, compact, edgy, innovative and simply beautiful. It’s a hard shell casing embossed in Black Moon’s holographic print that reveals a Full Black Moon when it’s fully opened. And I think it’s totally worth the £35.

Conclusion

Do I like this palette? Yes!

Would I repurchase it? Yes!

Would I recommend it to a friend? Not only to one, but to all my friends! It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.
