Just shut up and take my money – July Favourites

This type of post is new on my blog, but you’ve probably seen these kind of articles everywhere at the end of each month. It’s just a wrap-up of the month. I would like to include in here everything that I think is worth checking out. It could be beauty, clothes, skincare, music or anything else that I’ve been obsessing over.

With that being said, let’s see what are the things I can’t live without at the moment. And this time I’ll end the article with something different and quite special to me, completely unrelated to beauty or fashion.

  1. The Body Shop – Drops of Youth Concentrate (£26)

I’m 27 years old and start to feel a bit more wary about my skin. For a few weeks I was trying to find some new good skincare that was cruelty free as well. Someone recommended me The Body Shop – Drops of Youth Collection. When I went in to the shop, they had a 3 for 2 offer, so I went for the whole collection. I won’t talk about every product, because I’m still not very sure about them. But The Drops of Youth Concentrate has become a favourite.

They say that “this innovative concentrate helps to enhance surface skin condition, leaving it looking smoother, fresher and healthier.” I couldn’t agree more. It’s just like a cup of water my skin loves to drink. The only thing that annoys me a little is that it has alcohol as an ingredient, which, as far as I know, it’s not the best for your skin. Otherwise, I’m really happy with this product and I will probably repurchase it.

  1. Illamasqua Infinity Gel Eyeliner (£21)

This gel liner is the best one I have ever tried. It’s jet black, very smooth, long-wearing, and it doesn’t dry out. I don’t have anything else to say about it. Just give it a go and you won’t regret it.

  1. Wet n Wild Photo Focus Concealer (£3.69)

Since I’ve decided to buy and use only cruelty free products, it’s been a struggle to find the perfect concealer. Fit Me Maybelline Concealer in 15 Fair was my favourite one. The coverage, the formula, the colour, I felt like everything was crafted specially for my skin. So I’ve been on the hunt for a dupe. I could say that the Wet n Wild is the closest one so far. Still not 100% happy with it, but that’s all I’ve been using lately. So it definitely does the job.

  1. Jean Michel Basquiat Collection

I have a whole post about this collection and I don’t really want to repeat myself. So go have a read here. I’ll just say that I’ve been using these products almost every single day since I’ve bought them. The quality is insane and I think it’s worth all the money.

  1. Daviness Momo Shampoo (13.50) and Conditioner (£17.10)

Ok, first things first. I really hope this brand is cruelty free. Everywhere I checked they say they are. But no one is completely sure whether they sell in Chine or not. I checked on their website, I couldn’t find anything about China. Let me know, if you guys know something different. But my fingers are crossed, because I just love these two products.

I have wavy, sometimes a bit curly, frizzy, dry and dehydrated hair. These two together just work wonders for me. After I wash my hair with them, it just feels clean, voluminous, and the waves and curly parts are a bit more defined as well. On their description they say “they use only ethical production methods, natural ingredients, and eco packaging”. Because I dye my hair with henna I could only use shampoo with natural ingredients, so that just comes as a plus for me. I would totally purchase these again.

  1. Light Mountain Red Henna (£4.18)

A few months ago, I have decided to stop dying my hair with normal dye and try henna instead. I heard so many good things about it, that it was too intriguing for me not to give it a shot. I wanted to achieve a ginger colour that was intense, but natural looking. First I tried the LUSH henna, but I wasn’t over the moon with the results. After a few days of investigation, I found Light Mountain Red Henna, which is cheaper than the LUSH one, and personally I find it just perfect. It’s not very messy, quite easy to apply, and it gave the exact ginger red I was looking for. I will never stray from this one.

  1. Linkin Park – One more light

In front of the TV, approximately 13 years ago, my eyes, my ears, and my mind were wide open to this new thing my body was trying to understand. Fast moving manga like pictures, an angry but surprisingly enjoyable melodic voice, lyrics in a language that I couldn’t understand back then, a heavier guitar than I used to listen to, complemented such in an extraordinary way by drums, bass, and an electronic sound, all packed under the shell of newness. I was relating to everything my senses were feeling, but I couldn’t understand anything. I was actually “Breaking the habit”, as the song with the same name was unfolding in front of me. That’s how it all started! That was the moment when my life took another path and when my father had finally found someone to talk about rock with.

I have a hate-love relationship with the song “One more light”. I wish this song wouldn’t mean anything to me, but it means way too much. I am absolutely gutted about what happened to Chester Bennington. That’s why I had to include this song in my favourites of the month. Even if I wish it was under other circumstances.

Rest in peace, Chester!
